Expert Care to Keep Your Pet Healthy

All treatment decisions are made in-house. This provides flexibility to tailor care to you and your pet’s specific situation.

NOTICE:

Regarding Emergency situations, we want what is best for your pet in the moment. So feel free to call us regarding cat or dog emergencies. We will do our best to assess the situation you are describing over the phone and compare it with the current staffing, surgery, appointment, and patient load at our clinic at the time of your call. If it seems we can handle the current situation, we will ask you to come on in. But if it seems it is in your pet’s best interest to go to a true emergency clinic, then we will recommend that. And we will give you the information needed to contact a nearby veterinary ER. If we recommend you take your pet elsewhere, please remember that it is not a personal offense to you, we simply want what is best for your pet.

  • Pet dentistry in LaFayette, GA

    Pet Dentistry

Dental health directly affects your pet’s overall wellbeing. Daily brushing and chewing activity can help slow the progression of dental disease. But, once it develops, dental disease not only causes pain and bad breath but also compromises the immune system and stresses organs like the liver. We screen for dental disease during routine physical examinations by our veterinarians. Treatment of dental disease involves regular dental scaling (plaque removal) and polishing along with any needed tooth extractions. These procedures are a great benefit to revitalizing and maintaining your pet’s health.

    Allergy/ Itching Treatment

Nobody likes to itch! Cats and dogs are no exception. Allergies are the most common cause of inflamed and itchy skin of cats and dogs. If severe or left untreated, this can lead to secondary infections, which only worsen the problem. A diagnosis of allergies starts with a thorough discussion of your pet’s history and a physical examination by one of our veterinarians. We will discuss recommendations and options for getting your pet some relief from itchy/inflamed skin.

    X-Rays

Whether your pet needs an injury assessed, a health concern investigated or verification of healthy joints for breeding purposes, our X-ray (radiograph) services for cats and dogs help expand our ability to provide quality care. Using advanced digital imaging technology, we capture clear, detailed images of your furry friend’s bones, organs, and internal structures. Sometimes we recommend using our in-house ultrasound machine to further assess the situation. This allows our caring and experienced veterinarians to diagnose and treat a variety of health conditions with precision. We can also perform x-rays for OFA hip and elbow certification.

  • Blood being drawn from dog for heartworm testing

    Heartworm Testing

We provide reliable heartworm testing services for dogs and cats to detect infections early and protect your pet’s health. Heartworm disease is a serious, potentially life-threatening condition transmitted by mosquitoes, but early detection through routine testing allows for timely treatment and prevention. Signs of progressing heartworm infection include coughing, difficulty breathing, lethargy or tiring easily. We do not want to wait until we see these signs before we diagnose heartworms. It is much better to prevent this disease than to treat it. Our experienced veterinary team uses accurate and efficient testing methods to ensure your pet stays protected. We also offer expert guidance on year-round heartworm prevention to keep your furry companion safe and healthy. (NOTE: For your dog’s safety, we follow American Heartworm Society guidelines and require yearly heartworm testing for our canine patients in order to prescribe heartworm prevention.)

  • Heartworm prevention

    Heartworm Prevention

We provide a variety of heartworm prevention products for dogs and cats to safeguard them from this serious and potentially fatal disease. Some preventatives can be sent home; others must be administered by injection at our clinic. Since heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes and can be challenging to treat once contracted, year-round prevention is recommended (Note: Although rare, once a cat is infected with Heartworms there is no treatment and it is often fatal). Heartworm preventatives also protect against common intestinal parasites, such as roundworms and hookworms and others, further supporting your pet’s overall health. Our veterinary team will help you choose the most effective prevention plan tailored to your pet’s needs, ensuring they stay protected from heartworms and intestinal worms all year long.
(NOTE: For your pet’s safety we carry effective prescription heartworm preventatives. By Georgia law, a physical exam by a licensed veterinarian is required within the past 12 months in order to prescribe and/or dispense or administer prescription medication, including prescription heartworm prevention)
